Saracens sack rugby player Totoa Auvaa after another incident
Saracens have dismissed Totoa Auvaa, a member of the club’s senior men’s academy, with immediate effect.
The English rugby club said his conduct during an incident this weekend fell short of its standards, and it will make no further comment.
Auvaa had earlier been involved in a London nightclub altercation with England cricketers Ben Stokes and Gus Atkinson.
The England and Wales Cricket Board said its investigation found that Atkinson and Stokes breached team rules by staying out past curfew, but should not be blamed for violent conduct.
It said Stokes was not involved in the altercation and that Atkinson was attacked and did not retaliate.
Both players received written warnings, and Stokes later returned to captain England.
Saracens’ decision shows the club is taking action over conduct it says does not meet its expectations, but no further details about the latest incident were given.
