Pérez says his Singapore qualifying lap was better than the result showed

Sergio Pérez, the Mexican driver for Cadillac, did not advance to the second phase of qualifying at the 2026 Singapore Grand Prix.

He said he was satisfied with his lap at Marina Bay and believed it was among his best there.

The result, he said, did not show how well he had driven.

Pérez said Cadillac’s car could not match the pace of rivals, including Aston Martin and Williams.

In Formula 1, a driver’s result depends both on their performance and on what the car can do.

Pérez said Cadillac needs to improve its operations and the car’s low-speed performance and mechanical behaviour.

He said the team is working to be more competitive with its new car next season.
