L’Osteria co-founder Klaus Rader dies in Mallorca rally crash

Klaus Rader, co-founder of the restaurant chain L’Osteria, died in a car crash during the 550 Challenge Mallorca rally on Friday.

He was 63 and was driving a Porsche on a mountain road between Pollença and Lluc when the car left the road and fell into a ravine.

His co-driver, identified as Christina Ettel, was seriously injured.

The exact cause of the crash is not yet known, and Spanish authorities are investigating.

Rally organizers canceled the remaining event after the crash.

Rader co-founded L’Osteria with Friedemann Findeis in 1999, and the chain later expanded beyond its first restaurant in Nuremberg.

The crash has brought the competition to a halt, and the investigation will determine how it happened.
