The Influencer Project follows a creator targeted during a Copenhagen trip
The Influencer Project is a thriller starring British influencer and singer Chiara King as a version of herself.
In the film, she travels to Copenhagen after a tourism organisation invites her, with the deal arranged by her manager, Alice.
Chiara and a camera crew film her visits to shops, restaurants and a haunted house for social media.
Then someone using the name KingSlayer sends her threats and demands that she stop talking.
Chiara faces a choice: leave the trip or continue despite the danger.
Leaving would mean losing $100,000 in deals, so she keeps filming.
The film uses livestream comments and social media habits to explore the pressures and risks of influencer culture.
Its director says the story was partly inspired by real stalking incidents.

This story does not have two clearly opposing sides.
The ick gets generated not necessarily by the eventual gore that erupts in the last reel, but by the tacky weirdness of the way the film apes the mannerisms of social media reels and streaming nonsense to both satirise the ugly side of the business but also exploit and profit off it at the same time.
On one level, it’s an eerily clever exercise in bad faith, like a poor Michael Haneke film (think Funny Games) for gen-Z kicks; on another, maybe it’s just a crappy ripoff of online tropes that have been way overexposed already.
Chiara films much of her time in the city herself or with a camera crew.
