Doha Film Festival to premiere four Qatari films and one series

Doha Film Festival will premiere four Qatari feature films and present one original series at its November edition.

The films are Jodari Meno, A Very Ordinary Life, First to Fly and When the News Breaks You.

The series, Elzam, follows falconers on hunting expeditions.

The festival says this is the biggest group of local features unveiled in one year since Qatar began building its film and television industry with the launch of the Doha Film Institute in 2010.

The films explore subjects including a tuna-fishing pursuit, family secrets, gymnastics and the pressures on journalists covering conflict.

The festival says the selections reflect the growth of Qatar’s creative industries and give filmmakers a platform to reach audiences.

The full festival lineup is due to be announced in the coming weeks.
