Pauline Hanson’s campaign video draws little attention amid debate over race laws
Pauline Hanson’s One Nation party released a video for next month’s Victorian state election, using racist depictions of African, Middle Eastern, Indian and Indigenous people.
The video drew little attention beyond social media, despite One Nation leading in the polls.
Hanson has a separate legal dispute over a 2022 message to Greens senator Mehreen Faruqi, telling her to “piss off back to Pakistan”.
In 2024, the Federal Court found Hanson had breached section 18C of the Racial Discrimination Act, which covers conduct reasonably likely to offend, insult, humiliate or intimidate someone because of race or ethnicity.
A full Federal Court later rejected her appeal.
The law also includes exemptions for some forms of speech, such as fair comment on matters of public interest, when expressed reasonably and in good faith.
Hanson said in August that she would ask the High Court to overturn the ruling.

The ad, which uses the slogan “Take Victoria Back”, depicts a family of Melbourne progressives revealing they are conservatives.
