Rooftop and Oxy partner to finance homeowners’ property buybacks
Brazilian companies Rooftop and Oxy have partnered to help financially troubled homeowners buy back properties they sold through the HomeCash fund.
Homeowners can sell a property to the fund for 60% of its assessed value and then pay rent to Rooftop, giving them money to address immediate financial needs while keeping an option to reclaim the property.
Under the new partnership, Oxy can finance up to 80% of the amount needed for a buyback, with repayment terms of up to 240 months.
The financing can use a worker’s FGTS balance, a Brazilian employment-linked fund, and Oxy will assess each customer’s credit.
Instead of buying the property back, a former owner can also sell it to someone else and keep the difference between the sale price and the buyback price.
The partnership gives customers another way to regain ownership or benefit from a later sale, though the financing is subject to Oxy’s credit review.
Rooftop has partnered with Oxy to finance former homeowners’ buybacks of properties sold through Rooftop’s HomeCash fund.
Eligible customers can finance up to 80% of the amount needed to repurchase their property, for up to 240 months.
The arrangement allows use of Brazil’s FGTS employment fund balance, and Oxy conducts the credit assessment.
HomeCash buys properties from owners for 60% of their appraised value, after which the former owners pay rent to Rooftop.
Former owners can also sell the property to a third party and keep the difference between the sale price and the repurchase price.
