Inclusive 2-kilometer run planned in Changwon on Oct. 17

A slow-paced, noncompetitive run is planned for Oct.

17 in Jinhae-gu, part of Changwon in South Korea.

The Gyeongnam Women’s Organizations United and disability and civic groups are organizing it.

The event aims to challenge prejudice and discrimination related to gender and bodies, and to share the idea that people can move forward together at different speeds.

Anyone can take part at their own pace, including people with disabilities, people who need care and people accompanied by support workers.

The route runs for 2 kilometers between Jinhaeru Plaza and the Jinhae ferry terminal.

There will be no race rankings or overall winner, though prizes will be given for entries in a gender-equality poem contest and a race-number decoration activity.

The organizers hope the event will give participants a positive and enjoyable experience of gender equality.
