New Apple TV 4K is expected to get an A19 chip
Apple is expected to announce a new Apple TV 4K at its Tuesday “Welcome home” event.
The device is expected to use an A19 chip, replacing the A15 chip in the 2022 model.
Apple has tested a refreshed Siri Remote with a built-in speaker, which could help people find it between couch cushions.
It has also tested microphones built into the TV device so users can ask Siri for help without the remote or a paired HomePod.
It is not confirmed whether either feature will be included in the version sold to customers.
The new Apple TV 4K is due in stores on October 30, alongside a new HomePod mini.
The chip upgrade and possible Siri features would change how the device works, while its external design is expected to stay the same.
Apple’s next Apple TV 4K is expected to use a standard A19 chip, up from the A15 chip in the current model.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported that Apple has tested a Siri Remote with a speaker to help users find it.
Apple has also tested built-in microphones that would let users ask Siri questions without a remote or paired HomePod.
Whether the remote and microphone features will be included in the released device is unconfirmed.
