Pasto Cine joins production of María Alché’s new film
Argentine director María Alché is developing a film called “I Love You and Today Everything Looks Beautiful.”
Argentina’s Pasto Cine has joined the project, which is being produced with companies from Brazil, Spain, Germany and France.
Set in the 1950s and 1960s, the story follows siblings Josefina and Jorge after their parents die.
Their aunt Berta takes them to live in a big city home where intellectuals gather and political conspiracies are discussed.
The film connects the children’s personal loss with Argentina’s history and politics.
Alché says she wants to look back at a period when the country had a productive economy and hope for the future, against the backdrop of today’s far right.

This story does not have two clearly opposing sides.
based on the creation of a group of strong, complex and magnetic characters who survive thanks to a mystical and everyday quality: faith in life and the ability to laugh at tragedy.
María makes singular films, and I am fascinated by her direction of actors and by the dreamlike dimension that permeates reality in her work.
‘I Love You’ is a period film, yet it feels entirely relevant to the world we live in today.
