Fresh Ningxia goji berries reach Hong Kong in first direct shipment

On Oct.

10, 240 boxes of fresh goji berries from Ningxia, China, cleared customs and were sent by refrigerated road transport to Hong Kong.

It was the first time fresh Ningxia goji berries had been supplied directly to Hong Kong through the Yinchuan customs area.

Fresh berries are harder to export than dried ones because they can spoil during transport and need to arrive quickly.

The shipment used low-temperature sorting, pre-cooling and sealed refrigerated transport to keep the berries fresh.

Customs procedures were adjusted so the shipment did not need to be unpacked for another inspection along the way.

The company said the berries can reach Hong Kong within 48 hours of being picked.

A second shipment of the same size has completed customs procedures and is due to fly to Hong Kong on Oct.
