Mexico's Atención a las Causas strategy reports 8.7 million services

Mexico's Atención a las Causas strategy has delivered 8.7 million services and procedures, Interior Secretary Rosa Icela Rodríguez said at a government conference led by President Claudia Sheinbaum.

The program brings public services, education and work opportunities, and sports and cultural activities to communities.

Its goal is to address local needs and help prevent violence, including through Peace Fairs and visits to families' homes.

A separate welfare program has given more than 3.5 million basic goods to families in 36 municipalities and 837 localities.

A voluntary gun hand-in program has collected 14,077 firearms, while children have exchanged more than 15,000 toy weapons for educational toys.

The government also reports construction work at 485 secondary schools in municipalities with high crime rates, and more than 168,000 young people in job training.

The strategy includes more youth, sports and cultural programs, with a national mural event announced for October 29.

We have now reached 8.7 million procedures and services, but what matters most happens after each service: a family goes home with one less worry, someone finds the help they were looking for, and a young person discovers new possibilities to move forward.
