Microsoft restores Exchange Admin Center after configuration change

Microsoft’s Exchange Admin Center was unavailable to administrators on October 12 after a configuration change caused access errors.

The service is a web-based console used to manage Exchange Online, including mailboxes and groups.

Microsoft said the change caused unexpected responses that prevented administrators from getting in.

It reverted the change, which restored normal access before the end of the working day.

The outage left administrators without access to those management tools while it lasted.

Microsoft said it will review the change and its monitoring to improve detection of similar problems.

A preliminary incident report is due within two business days, followed by a final report next week.
