Makinde urges Tinubu to publish petrol pricing template
Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo State and the Alliance People’s Movement’s presidential candidate, has urged President Bola Tinubu to publish the formula used to set petroleum prices.
He made the call at an APM meeting in Yola, Adamawa State, ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 elections.
Makinde said Nigerians should be able to understand how pump prices are determined and contribute to the discussion.
His request comes as petrol prices remain a concern and global crude prices are elevated amid conflict in the Middle East.
The state-owned NNPC extended a petrol discount at its retail stations nationwide through 31 October.
NNPC said the discount is temporary, does not restore a fuel subsidy and does not set one price for the whole country.
The pricing framework remains market-based, and the sources give no response from Tinubu to Makinde’s request.
