Father Seeks Death Penalty in Daughter's Andhra Hit-and-Run
A young doctor-in-training named Priyanka was riding a two-wheeler with a friend when a car hit them and drove away.

Dr K Priyanka (29), a postgraduate medical student, died on August 9 at a private hospital in Hyderabad from injuries suffered in a hit-and-run.
On August 6, a car allegedly driven by a drunk driver struck the two-wheeler carrying Priyanka near a shopping mall in Rajamahendravaram, Andhra Pradesh, and sped away; articles describe the vehicle as both a scooty and a motorcycle.
Her father, Kanike Venkatesh, demanded the death penalty for those responsible, saying no other father should have to suffer the pain of losing a daughter.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu announced an ex-gratia of Rs 20 lakh and said the accused had been arrested and remanded in jail.
A post-mortem was conducted on August 10 at Gandhi Government Hospital in Hyderabad, where Telangana Sports Minister Vakiti Srihari and former Congress MLA S A A Sampath Kumar offered floral tributes.
