ISRO Sets September Launch for EOS-05 Earth-Imaging Satellite
India plans to send a new satellite called EOS-05 into space.
It will ride on a rocket called GSLV-F17.
The launch is planned for September 4, 2026, from Sriharikota.
EOS-05 will watch large parts of India from a high orbit.
Because it can look at the same region often, it may help people track changing weather and disasters.
It could also help with farming, forests, water resources and the environment.
The rocket will first place the satellite in a temporary transfer orbit.
The satellite will then use its own engines to reach its planned orbit.
This mission follows the loss of an earlier satellite called EOS-03 in 2021.
ISRO plans to launch the 2,367-kilogram EOS-05 satellite aboard GSLV-F17 on September 4, 2026.
The launch is scheduled for 2:55 a.m. IST from the Second Launch Pad at Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota.
EOS-05 is described as India’s first imaging satellite intended to operate from geosynchronous orbit.
The satellite is designed to support weather observation, disaster management, agriculture, forestry, water-resource monitoring and environmental assessment.
EOS-05 follows the failed EOS-03/GISAT-1 mission of August 2021, which was lost after a cryogenic upper-stage anomaly.
