Nepal Flood Death Toll Reaches 1,344 as Searches Continue
A very large flood struck Nepal after an ice and rock avalanche near the Nepal-Tibet border.
The floodwater moved down the Bhotekoshi River and destroyed homes, roads, bridges and other structures.
Officials said 1,344 people had died and about 4,898 were still missing.
More than 13,000 people had been rescued.
Many rescuers were searching for people trapped in tunnels at hydropower projects.
Teams from Nepal, India and China were helping with the rescue work.
Two men were recently found alive in a tunnel at the Trishuli 3A hydropower project.
Authorities were also watching water levels in several rivers to help protect people from further danger.

Nepali, Indian and Chinese rescue teams continued searching tunnels and other affected sites on the operation's eleventh day.
