MP High Court Orders University to Issue Doctor’s Degree
Shailaja Pandey finished medical school in 2013.
However, she did not receive her degree because officials questioned her domicile certificate.
Without the degree and medical registration, she could not practice medicine.
She asked the Madhya Pradesh High Court to help her.
The court said the problem was caused by the authorities, not by Pandey.
It cancelled the earlier decision against her admission.
The university must now give her the marksheet and degree.
The medical regulator may still ask her to pass a test before practicing.
The Madhya Pradesh High Court ordered Rani Durgavati University to issue Shailaja Pandey’s MBBS degree and marksheet.
Pandey completed her MBBS at a government medical college in Madhya Pradesh in 2013.
Her admission was cancelled over a domicile issue after she had completed the course.
The court said Pandey had disclosed her residence details and should not be blamed for an authority’s error in issuing her domicile certificate.
The National Medical Commission may require Pandey to take a fitness test before she begins medical practice.
