Shinde tells KDMC corporators: Be grounded, sensitive to citizens

The Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde, spoke to local leaders who work for their city.

He told them they should be kind, humble, and care about what regular people need.

He asked them to check their neighbourhoods every day, keeping streets clean and answering phone calls from citizens.

When there is an emergency, he said, leaders must be outside helping people, not sitting in offices.

He also talked about protecting nature, saying cities should grow but not by cutting too many trees.

If trees are cut, he said, many new ones must be planted to replace them.

He promised a prize of one crore rupees for the city that runs the best competition to find its cleanest area.

He gave this advice after one city leader was arrested for hurting a doctor and hospital workers, which made many people angry.

Shinde reminded everyone that a Chief Minister is really a Chief Servant to the people.
