Koraput Coffee Reaches BRICS Delegates, Spotlighting Odisha’s Tribal Farmers
Koraput Coffee is a coffee made by tribal farming families in Odisha.
A brand called Tiger Bright was placed in gift kits for delegates and journalists at the BRICS Summit.
The summit took place in New Delhi.
This gave the coffee attention from people from different countries.
The coffee is mostly Arabica and grows under the shade of trees.
Farmers handpick the ripe coffee cherries.
An Odisha cooperative helps collect, process and sell the coffee.
More coffee was collected in 2025-26 than in earlier seasons.
Officials said this growth has helped about 360 tribal families.
Tiger Bright, a Koraput Coffee brand, was included in kits distributed to BRICS delegates and media personnel.
The 250-gram packets were distributed at the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi by the Ministry of External Affairs.
Koraput Coffee is primarily 100 per cent Arabica, grown by tribal farmers in Odisha’s Nandapur and Machhkund areas.
The Tribal Development Co-operative Corporation of Odisha supports procurement, processing, grading, drying and marketing.
Procurement rose to 102.54 metric tonnes in 2025-26 from 34.68 tonnes in 2022-23, benefiting about 360 tribal families.
