Telangana Police Bust Alleged Multi-State Drug Network, Detain 100
Police in Telangana say they discovered a drug-selling network connected to several states.
The investigation started after someone gave information through an anti-drug helpline.
Police said the network used WhatsApp, PhonePe and Google Maps to arrange sales.
They traced the alleged supply route from forests in Odisha to Hyderabad.
Five people accused of supplying drugs were arrested.
Police also identified about 180 suspected drug users and detained or apprehended 100 of them.
Seven of those people were students.
Eighty tested positive for drug use, and 38 were sent to de-addiction programs.
Telangana Police’s EAGLE Force began investigating an alleged drug network after a May 28 helpline tip.
Investigators traced the alleged supply chain from Odisha forests through Andhra Pradesh to Hyderabad.
Police said drugs were ordered on WhatsApp, paid for through PhonePe and collected using Google Maps locations.
Five alleged suppliers from Odisha were arrested, while a juvenile was issued a notice and released.
Of about 180 suspected consumers identified, 100 were apprehended or detained, 80 tested positive and 38 were sent for de-addiction.
