Indian Railways Commits 2,455 km of Work for Haldia Port
Indian Railways is building a big network of tracks and roads to help trucks and trains get to Haldia Port faster.
They have already started work on 2,455 kilometers of new tracks and surveys.
The work was announced by the Railway Minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw, in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha.
A member of parliament asked if the new tracks were ready, and the minister said the surveys are done but the actual construction is still waiting for approval.
The goal is to make it easier for goods to move from the port to the rest of India.
Indian Railways has undertaken 2,455 km of works and surveys to improve Haldia Port connectivity.
The project aims to enhance freight movement and logistics efficiency for eastern India’s key port.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw confirmed the work in a Rajya Sabha written reply.
The initiative follows questions from MP Biswajit Sinha about the Tamluk‑Panskura 3rd and 4th line project.
No execution approval yet for the Tamluk‑Panskura line, but surveys have been sanctioned.
