NIA Arrests Second Accused in Manipur IED Attack Case
The NIA is investigating an explosion at a home in Manipur.
The attack happened on April 7 and seriously injured three family members.
Two of the injured people were children who later died.
Investigators also found an unexploded rocket-propelled explosive nearby.
The NIA arrested Thangmang Haokip, a 48-year-old man from Churachandpur, on September 25.
He is the second person arrested in the case.
A court in Imphal ordered that he remain in police custody for 12 days.
Investigators are looking for other people who may have helped with the attack.
In a separate case, the NIA arrested Mustafizur Rahman in Assam over alleged jihadi activities and searched his home.
The NIA arrested 48-year-old Thangmang Haokip of Churachandpur on September 25 in connection with an April 7 IED attack in Manipur.
The attack at Tronglaobi Awang Leikai in Bishnupur district killed two minor children and injured another person.
An unexploded improvised rocket-propelled explosive was also recovered near the attack site.
Haokip is the second accused arrested after S. Palal Thadout Kuki, who was arrested on August 12 and remains in judicial custody.
Separately, the NIA arrested Mustafizur Rahman in Assam and searched his residence over alleged jihadi activities.
