The complainant received three threatening calls on August 29, followed by further calls on August 30 and 31.
Police said the callers threatened to kill the complainant and his family while claiming links to the Neeraj Bawania gang.
Investigators allege the former employee accumulated about ₹5 lakh in online gaming and gambling debts and used a stolen phone and SIM cards for the plot.
