Assam University to Inaugurate Mobile Planetarium
Assam University in Silchar is going to open a special planetarium that can move around.
It's called Taromondal and was made by a group called the National Council of Science Museums.
The university's alumni association helped bring it to the campus.
This planetarium is like a big balloon that shows pictures of stars and planets inside.
It can be taken to different schools and places in the Barak Valley and nearby areas.
The university's leader, Prof. Rajive Mohan Pant, is happy about this because it will help kids learn more about space and science.
Many important people from the university were there when they set it up.
Assam University, Silchar, will inaugurate a mobile planetarium named Taromondal on January 21 as part of its 33rd Foundation Day celebrations.
The planetarium was developed by the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM) and facilitated by the Assam University Alumni Association.
The portable planetarium is housed within an inflatable dome and equipped with an advanced internal projection system that offers a realistic simulation of the night sky.
The mobile facility can be taken to schools and localities across the Barak Valley and neighbouring regions, making astronomy education accessible to students, particularly those from remote and underserved areas.
Several dignitaries and members of the university community were present during the installation, including Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rajive Mohan Pant and other key faculty and student representatives.
