Restored 1942: A Love Story to Re-Release August 21
An old movie called 1942: A Love Story is coming back to movie theaters in India on August 21.
It was first released in 1994, more than thirty years ago.
The movie has been cleaned up and made much sharper using special new technology called 8K.
It will also have richer sound thanks to Dolby 5.1.
The story is about a young man whose father works for the British rulers of old India.
He falls in love with a girl whose father is fighting for India's freedom.
Their love becomes difficult when the Quit India Movement begins.
The movie's music is very special because it was the last complete soundtrack written by famous composer R. D. Burman.
Many people still love its songs, like Ek Ladki Ko Dekha To Aisa Laga.
The movie is returning because people enjoy watching classic films again on the big screen.
Vidhu Vinod Chopra's 1994 romantic classic '1942: A Love Story' will re-release in Indian cinemas on August 21 in a fully restored 8K version.
The restoration was mastered in 8K with Dolby 5.1 sound by Prasad Film Labs, with Yogesh Ishwar Dhabuwala as restoration producer, and also involved L'Immagine Ritrovata in Bologna, Italy.
The film stars Anil Kapoor and Manisha Koirala, alongside Jackie Shroff, Anupam Kher, Danny Denzongpa and Pran.
Set during the Quit India Movement, Narendra Singh, son of a British Raj loyalist, falls in love with Rajjo Pathak, daughter of a freedom fighter.
Featuring R. D. Burman's final complete soundtrack, the re-release continues a trend of classics like Rockstar, Tumbbad, Sholay and Umrao Jaan returning to cinemas.
