NHAI Plans AI Upgrade for Faster 1033 Highway Emergencies
NHAI to upgrade 1033 highway helpline with AI, real-time location tracking · financialexpress.com

The National Highways Authority of India wants to make its 1033 highway help line smarter and faster.

The service helps people with accidents, medical emergencies, vehicle breakdowns and highway complaints.

New computer systems may understand callers speaking different Indian languages.

The system may also find exactly where a caller is on a highway.

It could then help send the nearest ambulance, crane, tow truck or patrol vehicle.

It may warn other drivers about accidents, blockages or dangerous roads.

Human operators will still make important decisions during difficult emergencies.

The helpline works all day and night across a very large highway network.

Indian Highways Management Company Limited is collecting ideas from companies before selecting a provider for the upgraded system.
