The Maharashtra State Minorities Commission wrote a letter to the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, asking him to stop the demolition of a university called Mohammad Ali Jauhar University.

The university is in Rampur and has many students, teachers, and staff.

The Rampur Development Authority had ordered the demolition of most of the university’s buildings because they were built without proper plans.

The university’s founder, Azam Khan, had the order stopped for a short time by a government official.

Students have been protesting on campus, demanding that the demolition be cancelled and that classes can continue.

The commission wants the government to make sure the university can keep working while the legal issues are sorted out.
