Delhi Faces Heavy Rain for Second Day, Red Alert Issued
Delhi is getting very heavy rain for the second day in a row.
The weather department has issued a red alert, which means people should be especially careful.
Rain may come with lightning, thunder and strong winds.
Roads in Delhi became flooded, making travel very difficult.
On Monday, some flights had to land at airports in other cities.
Delhi Airport said flights were currently operating normally.
Nearby Gurugram also had badly flooded roads.
Officials there asked some workers and students to stay home and work or study online.
The India Meteorological Department issued a red alert for Delhi, warning of heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds.
Heavy rainfall was expected across Delhi during the two to three hours after the IMD’s 6:45 a.m. update.
Waterlogging, waist-deep water and severe traffic disruption affected the capital during Monday’s rain.
Delhi Airport said flights were operating normally, after 15 flights were diverted on Monday because of adverse weather.
Gurugram faced severe waterlogging, prompting authorities to recommend work-from-home and online classes.
