India's First Neuro-Oncology Rehabilitation Centre Opens in Mumbai

A new special hospital centre in Mumbai, India, helps people who have had brain or spine tumours.

It is called the Amrit Sparsh Neuro-Oncology Rehabilitation Centre.

This is the first centre like it in all of India.

Two organisations, the Indian Cancer Society and Tata Memorial Hospital, built it together.

Some people who beat brain tumours still have trouble walking, talking, swallowing, or remembering things.

This centre helps them practice those skills so they can return to everyday life.

Doctors, physiotherapists, speech therapists, and cognitive experts all work together to help each patient.

There is a dedicated laboratory for the mind and special virtual sensory environments for therapy.

People who cannot pay get the help for free, and others pay only a small amount.

The centre hopes to help about 2,000 patients every year, including children who want to go back to school.
