India’s AI Enablers Gain as Data-Centre Buildout Accelerates
India is starting to build more data centres for artificial-intelligence services.
Building one gigawatt of data-centre capacity costs about ₹70,000 crore.
Around 60% of that money is spent on hardware such as GPUs, storage and memory.
Much of this hardware currently comes from suppliers outside India.
The other 40% pays for power systems, electrical equipment and other infrastructure.
Indian companies could supply many of these products and services.
Amit Chandra of HDFC Securities said the opportunity is substantial.
This is because India’s data-centre construction is still at an early stage.
Setting up one gigawatt of data-centre capacity requires roughly ₹70,000 crore in investment.
About 60% of the investment goes toward hardware, including GPUs, storage and memory.
Much of the current hardware spending goes to suppliers outside India.
The remaining 40% covers power, electrical equipment and other data-centre infrastructure.
HDFC Securities’ Amit Chandra said Indian suppliers have a substantial opportunity as India’s buildout remains at an early stage.
