Maruti Suzuki Reaches One Million Vehicles Shipped Through Rail Terminals
Maruti Suzuki makes cars and sends them to customers across India.
The company now says it has sent one million cars by train from special railway terminals inside its factories.
Most of these cars came from the factory in Gujarat.
The newer terminal in Haryana has also sent many cars.
These terminals let cars go directly onto freight trains without first being taken by trucks to another railway station.
Maruti Suzuki says this can reduce fuel use, pollution, and traffic on roads.
The company says its rail share has grown from 5% in FY 2014-15 to 26.5% in FY 2025-26.
It wants trains to carry 35% of its dispatched vehicles by FY 2030-31.
Maruti Suzuki India said it has dispatched 1 million vehicles through in-plant railway terminals since 2023.
The company’s Hansalpur siding in Gujarat began operations in March 2023, followed by Manesar in Haryana in June 2025.
About 790,000 vehicles were dispatched from Gujarat and 210,000 from Manesar.
The two sidings accounted for 70% of Maruti Suzuki’s rail-based vehicle dispatches in the current financial year.
Maruti Suzuki aims to raise rail-based dispatches from 26.5% in FY 2025-26 to 35% by FY 2030-31.
