Andhra Pradesh Fast-Tracks Primary Health Centre Construction and Staffing
Andhra Pradesh is building and repairing health centres so people can receive basic medical care closer to home.
The state says most Primary Health Centres already have their own buildings.
Many older and damaged buildings have been replaced, while others are still being built.
Urban health centres are also receiving dedicated buildings.
The government says it has hired more than 600 people at PHCs during the past two years.
Fifty-seven doctor positions are still empty and are expected to be filled soon.
A new service called Sanjeevani Digital Health will help patients get tests at home.
It will also support appointments, medicines, follow-up care and digital health records.
Andhra Pradesh has 1,143 of its 1,231 Primary Health Centres operating from their own buildings.
Of 140 dilapidated PHCs identified for replacement, 118 have been rebuilt and 22 are under construction.
Buildings have been sanctioned for all 560 Urban PHCs; 327 are complete, 55 are under construction and three cases are in court.
More than 600 PHC appointments were made in two years, leaving 57 doctor vacancies, according to Health Minister Y Satya Kumar Yadav.
The Sanjeevani Digital Health platform is planned to offer 41 doorstep tests, appointments, medicines, follow-up care and digital records.
