Pune Plans Model Upgrades for All 121 Rural Health Centres
Pune is improving all 121 of its rural health centres.
These centres help people receive basic medical care close to home.
So far, 55 centres have been changed into model centres.
The others are planned to be upgraded this year.
The improvements include cleaner spaces, better furniture and new rooms for operations and deliveries.
A digital system will help staff manage patient information and services.
Some centres have also received quality certifications.
Three centres now let patients speak with specialist doctors through telemedicine.
This is meant to help people in remote and hilly areas avoid unnecessary travel.
Pune Zilla Parishad plans to convert all 121 district Primary Health Centres into model facilities.
Fifty-five PHCs were upgraded last year, with the remaining centres planned for development this year.
Upgrades include modular operation theatres, delivery rooms, modern furniture and larger waiting areas.
The Hospital Information Management System will digitally manage patient information and healthcare services.
Three PHCs have received NABH accreditation, 15 have NQAS certification and three offer telemedicine.
