Cracked Walls, Leaking Roof Push Pardevi Villagers To Hunger Strike

The children of Pardevi village go to a small government school that is very old and broken.

There are big cracks in the walls, and when it rains, water leaks through the roof.

Sometimes water fills the classrooms, so children have to sit on wet floors.

The school toilets are dirty and not safe, and the lights have not worked for ten days.

The children, their parents, and other villagers are very worried about safety.

They started a special protest called a hunger strike, where people do not eat until something changes.

Even the students came to the protest and held the Indian flag and signs asking for a safe school.

The protest is happening in front of the office of the local official called the Tehsildar.

The villagers say they asked for help many times, but no one fixed the school.

They promise to keep protesting until the school is repaired, gets electricity, and gets clean toilets.
