Nashik CEO Orders Strict Compliance With School Food Safety Regulations
The people who run schools in Nashik district have been told to make sure students get safe and healthy food.
A government official named Omkar Pawar gave this order.
He wants every school to follow special rules about food safety.
The rules say that schools which cook their own meals must have a government permission called an FSSAI license.
Snacks and drinks with too much fat, salt, or sugar cannot be sold or given to children in school.
These unhealthy foods are also not allowed within 50 meters of the school entrance.
Schools must also have clean drinking water, clean kitchens, and good hygiene.
The people who cook and serve the food must keep everything clean too.
Inspectors will visit schools to check that the rules are being followed.
If a school breaks the rules, it can face legal action.
Zilla Parishad CEO Omkar Pawar ordered strict implementation of the Food Safety and Standards (Safe Food and Balanced Diets for Children in School) Regulations, 2020 in Nashik schools.
A video conference on August 17 brought together Block Development Officers, Block Education Officers, MP Bhaskar Bhagare, and Food and Drug Administration officials from all talukas.
Schools that provide meals themselves must obtain FSSAI registration or a license, and central kitchens and self-help groups supplying mid-day meals must complete food safety licensing.
The sale, advertisement, marketing, or free distribution of HFSS (High Fat, Salt, and Sugar) food items is prohibited in school premises and within a 50-meter radius of the school entrance.
The FDA will inspect government and private schools across the district and take legal action if any violations are found.
