Nashik Plants 5.29 Lakh Saplings on Independence Day
Nashik held a large tree-planting event on Independence Day.
People planted 5.29 lakh young trees in one day.
Government workers, students, groups and local residents took part.
The event was part of campaigns called Harit Maharashtra Abhiyan and Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam.
These campaigns encourage people to protect nature and grow more trees.
People also registered many plantings on three online platforms.
By the end of the Van Mahotsav period, nearly 16.50 lakh trees had been planted in the district.
