Tamil Nadu to Sell Onions at ₹35 From September 3
Onions have become much more expensive in Tamil Nadu.
They are reportedly selling for up to ₹60 per kilogram in regular markets.
To help people pay less, the state government will sell them for ₹35 per kilogram.
These onions will be available at fair price shops from September 3.
People with ration cards in cities will be able to buy them.
The government plans to buy about 1,000 metric tonnes at first.
Officials said bad weather caused shortages in important onion-growing states.
The government will also keep checking prices regularly.
