Bhadradri Greenfield Airport Site Inspections Advance Long-Standing Proposal
Officials are looking for the best place to build a new airport in Bhadradri Kothagudem district.
They visited several possible locations to study the land.
The places included Seethampeta, Gareebpeta and Abbugudem.
Earlier, two other sites were considered unsuitable for technical reasons.
The team is checking whether planes could safely take off and land there.
It is also studying the weather, terrain and available land.
Officials will write a report after visiting all the proposed sites.
The airport could improve travel, tourism, industry and access to the Bhadrachalam temple.
A Central technical team and Airports Authority of India officials inspected alternative airport sites in Bhadradri Kothagudem district.
Khammam MP Ramasahayam Raghuram Reddy accompanied officials to sites at Seethampeta, Gareebpeta and Abbugudem.
Two locations examined earlier were reportedly rejected as unsuitable for technical reasons, prompting the state to propose six alternatives.
Officials are assessing aircraft operations, terrain, weather conditions and land availability for runway construction.
A technical report will guide the final site selection, while further inspections are scheduled in Dummugudem and Palvancha mandals.
