Karnataka Shortlists Three Sites for Bengaluru’s Second Airport
Three sites shortlisted, Tumakuru not under consideration · thehansindia.com

Karnataka wants to build a second airport to support Bengaluru’s future growth.

The government is studying three main locations for it.

These are Somanahalli, Chudahalli and Gudemaranahalli.

Harohalli is also being examined.

Tumakuru is not currently on the shortlist.

Some leaders had asked for the airport to be built in Tumakuru because the district is growing.

However, government officials said national rules may make building an airport close to Bengaluru’s existing airport difficult.

The final choice will depend on technical, environmental and connectivity studies.
