Delhi CM Rekha Gupta presents CAG report exposing AAP lapses
The leader of Delhi's government, Rekha Gupta, showed everyone a big report about how the city's money was spent before.
The report says the previous government did not use a lot of public money properly.
Out of every step planned for roads, schools, hospitals and transport, much money was left unspent.
Money given to clean the Yamuna river and reduce air pollution was also not fully used.
The previous government had promised women a monthly payment of Rs 1,000 but never started that scheme.
It also did not pay its share for the Delhi Metro and sent back money for a health scheme.
The new government says it will use every rupee of public money honestly and carefully.
The reports are now being sent to government departments so they can explain what was done.
A group called the Public Accounts Committee will check their answers and take action if needed.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta tabled CAG reports during the Legislative Assembly's Monsoon Session, accusing the previous AAP government of mismanaging public money.
She said only about Rs 61,000 crore of the Rs 80,798 crore 2024-25 Budget was spent by the AAP government.
CAG Report No. 1 covers audit findings for 2022-23, including stamp duty revenue loss, DSSSB expenditure, power subsidy policy, DSIIDC irregularities and more.
Gupta alleged AAP failed to pay Delhi Metro's share, returned central Ayushman scheme funds and did not launch the promised Delhi Lakshmi Yojana.
The reports are being sent to departments for Action Taken Notes, with the Public Accounts Committee set to act on them.
