BMC Announces Demolition Drive Against 39,111 Slum Structures
Mumbai’s civic body, called the BMC, plans to remove illegal additions from many slum structures.

The BMC will intensify action against 39,111 unauthorised slum structures across Mumbai from October 1 to December 31.
The identified structures contain unauthorised additions exceeding 14 feet in height.
The eastern suburbs account for 31,227 structures, followed by 4,536 in the western suburbs and 3,348 in the island city.
The BMC has already acted against 4,584 structures and issued notices to another 611.
Residents have been asked to remove unauthorised portions voluntarily before demolition teams begin enforcement action.
