Indore RRR Centres Promote Recycling As Water Works Reviewed
Indore has opened 15 centres where people can bring old books and plastic waste.
In return, they can receive plant saplings.
By September 18, many books and more than a tonne of plastic had been collected.
The campaign had also given out 3,710 saplings.
The books will go to children, students and other people who need them.
Self-help groups and local artists can earn opportunities by reusing materials.
Separately, the city commissioner inspected water-supply construction sites.
He asked officials to finish overhead tanks and pipelines faster.
He also said the work must meet required quality standards.
Fifteen Reduce, Reuse, Recycle centres in Indore are accepting old books and plastic in exchange for saplings.
By September 18, the centres had collected 1,121 kilograms of plastic and 12,322 books.
The campaign, launched on September 1, had distributed 3,710 saplings.
Collected books are being given to children, students and others, while reuse activities support self-help groups and local artists.
Municipal Commissioner Kshitij Singhal reviewed overhead tank and pipeline works and directed agencies to speed up construction while maintaining quality.
