Sam Koshy Named Acting Telangana High Court Chief Justice
Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh has been appointed to the Supreme Court.
Because he will leave his job as head of the Telangana High Court, senior judge Sam Koshy has been asked to take on that role temporarily.
The Union law ministry announced Koshy’s appointment on Monday.
He will perform the Chief Justice’s duties after Singh gives up the office.
Koshy held the acting role briefly before, in July 2025.
He became a High Court judge in 2013 and moved to the Telangana High Court in 2023.
Singh travelled to Delhi on Monday.
His swearing-in as a Supreme Court judge is proposed for October 6.
The High Court did not hold a farewell gathering before he left because his travel was urgent.
Senior Telangana High Court judge Puthichira Sam Koshy was appointed acting Chief Justice.

Koshy will take over after Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh relinquishes office, pending a new appointment.
Koshy previously served as acting Chief Justice from July 17 to July 19, 2025.
Singh left for Delhi on Monday; his Supreme Court swearing-in is proposed for October 6.
