Kalyanphata Traffic Plan Seeks Freeway Progress, Faster Infrastructure Work
People living around Kalyanphata are unhappy because traffic jams happen often.
Their group, JKTAC, gave officials signatures from more than 1,000 residents.
They asked officials to speed up road and flyover projects.
One important project is the Airoli-Katai Naka Freeway.
Land still needs to be acquired for several large road projects.
The committee also wants a flyover near Xperia Mall and a wider road toward Panvel.
Thane district collector Dr Shrikrishna Panchal said he would bring the relevant departments together.
He also agreed to study whether working from home could help reduce traffic during busy hours.
JKTAC submitted signatures from more than 1,000 residents seeking action on traffic congestion.
The Airoli-Katai Naka Freeway was a central focus of the meeting with Thane district authorities.
About 175 of the 430 hectares needed in Thane district remain to be acquired.
The committee sought completion of flyovers, carriageway expansion and a new Kalyanphata traffic signal.
The collector promised coordination among agencies and agreed to examine work-from-home measures to reduce peak-hour traffic.
