Missing 70‑Year‑Old Man Search Continues in Hyderabad
A 70‑year‑old man named Balakrishnayya fell into a drain under a road in Hyderabad and has not been found.
Police and rescue teams are using robots and cameras to look in the drain and nearby lake.
Some residents say the road barricades were far from the drain, so cars could still get close.
A business owner said Balakrishnayya was picking up trash when he fell.
Officials are still looking for him.
70‑year‑old Balakrishnayya fell into an open drain under the Vaishalinagar road underbridge in Miyapur on Tuesday night and remains missing.
Search teams from the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation, Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency, National Disaster Response Force and the Water Board are combing drain lines, manholes and the nearby Erla Cheruvu lake with robots and laser profiling.
Residents claim barricades for road repairs were more than 200 m from the underbridge and vehicles still entered the colony, raising safety concerns.
Business owner Sreehari said Balakrishnayya was collecting trash near the underpass when he fell, and that DRF staff had opened all manholes but found nothing.
Serilingampally zonal commissioner Narayan Amit Malempati and MLA Arekapudi Gandhi inspected the rescue operations on Thursday.
