CM Revanth Reddy Pulls Up ORR Contractor Over Maintenance, Safety
The leader of Hyderabad's state government, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, was not happy with how a big highway was being looked after.
The highway is called the Outer Ring Road, or ORR.
A private company takes care of the road, and the Chief Minister said the company was not doing a good job.
Because of that, there were more accidents, and cars were parked in places where they should not be.
He told his officials to watch the road closely and make sure everyone follows safety rules.
He also wants one big digital system to manage all the roads in the city, including highways, flyovers and underpasses.
He said a land rule called TDR, which gives rights to people whose land the government takes, should be handled online so nobody can cheat.
He asked for one road, called Radial Road-1, to be finished by December 9.
He also wants more roads to be built quickly and with good quality.
This is all to keep people safe and help Hyderabad grow.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy expressed strong displeasure over the private concessionaire's maintenance and operation of the Hyderabad Outer Ring Road (ORR), citing poor upkeep and rising safety concerns.
He blamed contractor negligence for frequent accidents and indiscriminate vehicle parking along the ORR, and directed continuous monitoring and strict compliance with safety norms.
He called for an integrated digital road management system covering the ORR, proposed Regional Ring Road, flyovers, underpasses and all major roads across Hyderabad.
He ordered a special committee to examine the TDR mechanism, limited TDR to government-acquired land, and made the process fully online to prevent irregularities.
He directed that Radial Road-1 from Kongara Kalan to Future City be completed by December 9 and that elevated corridor work be accelerated, with the Banjara Hills to Shilpa Layout stretch to start immediately (reported as Corridor II in one article and Corridor III in another).
