DRI Seizes Rs 8.98 Crore Gold in Visakhapatnam
Officials from India’s Directorate of Revenue Intelligence stopped a car in Visakhapatnam.
They said the car was travelling from Kolkata toward Hyderabad with two passengers.
After chasing it, they searched the vehicle.
They found three packets of gold hidden under the front passenger seat.
The gold weighed about 5.83 kilograms and was worth Rs 8.98 crore.
Officials said it had allegedly been smuggled into India through the India-Bangladesh border.
They seized the gold and arrested both passengers.
A magistrate sent the two people to judicial custody, and the investigation is continuing.
