Depression over coast keeps Kolkata wet with rain through week

A big rain storm called a depression formed over the sea near the coast, close to a town named Canning.

It is like a giant wet cloud that is slowly moving toward the northwest.

Because it is moving, the city of Kolkata and the southern part of West Bengal will get lots of rain.

Some days the rain will be very heavy, and the wind will blow strongly too.

People may also see thunder and lightning in the sky.

The rain might make streets fill with water in places that are low, so people should be careful.

Boats at Kolkata and Haldia ports were told to be cautious with a special warning signal.

The wet weather could last all the way until next Wednesday.

Everyone in the area should keep an umbrella handy all week long.
