ASHA Worker Carries Elderly Woman to Safety Amid Odisha Floods
Heavy floods affected villages in Odisha’s Bhadrak district.
Minati Sahoo was working as an ASHA health worker in the area.
She was giving people medicines and teaching them how to avoid flood-related illnesses.
She learned that floodwater had entered Nadigaon village after a river embankment broke.
There, she found a 60-year-old woman named Basanta Das alone at her home.
Das could not walk well because her legs were infected.
Sahoo carried Das on her back through deep water for about 500 metres.
She took Das to a safe shelter, and the district administration praised her bravery.
